Hematologist/Oncologist Opportunity – Sioux Falls VA Health Care System Serve Veterans. Advance Cancer Care. Shape the Future of Oncology at VA.
The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is seeking a Board-Certified Hematologist/Oncologist with a minimum of three years of experience to join our mission-driven oncology team. This is a highly impactful clinical role providing comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care to Veterans within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
Key Clinical Responsibilities

Evaluate, triage, and prioritize hematology/oncology consults, ensuring timely access for Veterans with suspected malignancies or hematologic disorders.

Order, supervise, and manage chemotherapeutic and immunotherapeutic treatments.

Perform bone marrow aspirations and biopsies.

Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumor boards and coordinate care with radiation oncology, surgical oncology, hospice, and palliative care.

Conduct goals-of-care discussions, develop survivorship care plans, and provide long-term follow-up for complex and advanced disease.

Oversee infusion center operations and ensure safe, efficient delivery of therapies.

Interpret pathology, imaging, and molecular/genomic testing to guide evidence-based treatment plans.

Engage in clinical trials, research initiatives, and quality improvement projects.

Maintain compliance with national oncology quality metrics and institutional protocols.
Leadership, Teaching & Professional Duties

Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.

Participate in teaching activities for medical students, residents, or fellows.

Attend staff meetings, serve on committees/workgroups, and complete peer reviews and OPPE requirements.

Maintain board certification, CME, HIPAA/security training, and all VA-mandated competencies.

Participate in on-call coverage as assigned.
